Before we jump into the step-by-step guide, let’s make sure you have all the necessary tools at your disposal. For this mirror hanging project, you’ll need:
- Hammer
- Nails x2
- Tape Measure
- Level
- Painters Tape
- Pen or Pencil
Now that you’re armed with the right tools, let’s get started on transforming your wall into a perfectly adorned space.
Step-by-Step Guide:
Measure and Mark the Center of Your Wall: Begin by measuring the width of your wall and marking its center. This crucial step sets the foundation for a perfectly centered mirror.
Prepare the Mirror with Painters Tape: Lay the mirror face-down and cover the back with painters tape. This will serve as a canvas for your markings and prevent any scratches on the mirror surface.
Mark Mirror Hooks and Center on the Tape (3 Points): Using the pen or pencil, mark three points on the painters tape to correspond with the mirror hooks and center. This ensures accuracy when transferring the measurements to the wall.
Align Tape Center Mark with Wall Center Mark: With the mirror still face-down, align the center mark on the painters tape with the center mark on your wall. This step is crucial for achieving a balanced and centered placement.
Level it Out for Straight Perfection: Place the level on top of the mirror and adjust until it’s perfectly level. This guarantees that your mirror won’t be crooked when hung on the wall.
Hammer Nails into Marked Hook Points on the Tape (NOT the Center): This is where precision comes into play. Hammer the nails into the marked hook points on the tape, making sure to avoid the center. This ensures you have two perfectly spaced apart nails to hang the hooks on the back of the mirror.
Remove Tape, and VOILA – One-Try Mirror Hanging Success! Carefully peel away the painters tape, revealing your perfectly marked and hung mirror. Step back and admire your work – you’ve just achieved mirror-hanging success on the first try!
Congratulations! You’ve successfully mastered the art of hanging mirrors with Kara’s foolproof home hack.
