Below is our deep dive into what Oconomowoc looks like demographically and the wonderful ways you can take full advantage of its locally owned shops and restaurants.

Oconomowoc is the place to be for live entertainment and socializing – check out its gallery nights, art centre, festivals, and year-round socials. The best thing about it is the walkability to downtown – you can even have a stroll between its two lakes or hang out at the city beach by day and enjoy the bandshell concerts by night, and the very special Magic Mansion open to the public concerts hosted by a local resident throughout the summer season.
It’s one of the most rapidly growing municipalities in Waukesha, with an amazing vibrancy and new development of restaurants, shops, and homes. All the while it has managed to preserve and celebrate its old world charm.
This growth has contributed to its 45% home value increase in the last 5 years, but there are also plenty of affordable housing developments being constructed.

The municipality of Oconomowoc had an average home price of $538,002 in 2022, making it good bang for buck. The area is growing in value, it had a 45% jump in appreciation since 2018 home averages. This is relatively on par with the value change in Delafield and Hartland as well.

A closer look at homes sold over the last couple of years reveals some interesting stats on what it’s like to live in Oconomowoc.
The stats back up what we’re seeing on the ground- Oconomowoc is going through a rejuvenation, with the largest percentage of newly constructed homes on the market. Although most of these homes are likely contemporary, the area still has a beautiful blend of historically ranch and colonial homes.
Just like Hartland and Pewaukee, Oconomowoc has a lot of subdivisions, but the downtown makes it even that much more of a community-style life.

The average home in Oconomowoc is 45% higher today than it was in 2018! That means if you bought a house in Oconomowoc for $370,508 in 2018, it should have been worth $441,424 in 2023 adjusting for inflation. However, the real market in 2023 lists that same house for $538,002. That’s a 45% markup of appreciation for that lucky homeowner, and nearly 25% of that comes from market factors in today’s housing economy!

Buying a home now is the best thing you can do for a long-term investment. Over a historic timeline, housing market trends show your home will appreciate an average of 4% a year. When you wait, you miss out on the rewards of being a homeowner.
