Transform your space like a seasoned pro with these simple steps and materials:

Materials:

  • Roller
  • Fine angled paintbrush
  • Your choice of paint (we recommend Sherwin Williams Emerald Trim Enamel)

Follow these steps:

  1. Remove all hardware from your door.
  2. Use a hand sander and 180 grit sandpaper to de-gloss the varnish, creating a rough surface for primer to adhere to.
  3. Prime the door using Kara’s method (details below).
  4. Apply 2 coats of paint using Kara’s method.
  5. Reattach hardware.
  6. Hang up your beautifully painted door!

Kara’s Method:

  • Start by painting all of the panels first.
  • Achieve a professional finish by wiping off excess paint along the edges of the panels.
  • After painting panels and wiping down, roll with the grain of the wood along the rails and stiles of the door.
  • Apply 2 coats in total, sanding with 320 grit sandpaper in between each coat to ensure a super smooth finish.
